Tom Miller opened Beauty MKE in 1993 on the corner of Brady Street and Farwell Avenue. He later moved the blossoming business around the corner to 1633 N. Farwell Ave. where it continues to serve as not only a full-service salon and fashion apex, but also a vital community space for artists and organizations.

This weekend, Miller – along with his wife, Stephanie Miller – will host an anniversary soiree celebrating 30 years of beautifying Brew City. The "extravagant open house party" takes place from 6 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, May 6 at the salon.

Longtime Milwaukeeans will remember The Clams – a punk, jazz, world music outfit that was a staple of local live music in the '90s. For one night only, original members Jay Arpin, Sean Maroney, Dave Dinauer, Robert Russel and Brian Dietz will reassemble for the first time in 30 years.

"At the dawn of the 1990s, The Clams were making music unlike that being created by anyone else in Milwaukee. Rooted in jazz, The Clams blended a punk attitude and other genres of music into its decidedly unorthodox approach to jazz," wrote Bobby Tanzilo in a 2010 OnMilwaukee article.

The event will also showcase the work of numerous artists, including Sasha Kinens, Jean Roberts Guequierre, Rory Kurtz, Jay Arpin, Janet McMillan, James Kloiber, Mike Kasen and Chrisanne Robertson.

Food, drink and giveaways are also part of the extravaganza.

"Old friends, new friends – it's going to be a great time," says Miller.
