414 Day is just a week away – and in case that didn't make next Friday's celebratory happy hours happy enough, Central Standard Crafthouse & Kitchen is aiming to host the happiest hour in the city, serving up free Old Fashioneds at its Downtown location. Yes, not $4.14 – but $0.00.
From 4:14-5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 14, everyone's first Brandy Old Fashioned at the distillery's Downtown locale – found at 320 E. Clybourn St. – will be free in honor of Milwaukee's special day as well as the people who make it special.
"There’s no better way to honor and celebrate all that Milwaukee is than by raising a locally made cocktail crafted with brandy from a local Milwaukee company,” said Central Standard co-founder Pat McQuillan, in a release. “On 414 Day, every Milwaukeean is a VIP, and we can’t wait to give everyone their first Brandy Old Fashioned cocktail free on Friday, April 14."
"This our little way of saying ‘thank you’ to all the people who make our city great," fellow co-founder Evan Hughes said, in the release. "Every Milwaukeean deserves a free cocktail and a little gratitude this April 14."
Central Standard opened its Downtown Crafthouse & Kitchen location in the historic former Wisconsin Leather Building during the summer of 2021, moving from its previous Walker's Point tasting room found at 613 S. 2nd St.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
