At OnMilwaukee, we believe in lifting up all voices and using our platform to support others’ dreams.  And that's what we hope to do for Dominic the Food Reviewer. When I first met Dominic almost two years ago, I was impressed by his passion, his curiosity and his interest in improving his writing. Over time,  I’ve not only enjoyed getting to know him better, but he has taught me as much as I have him. My hope is that you’ll not only enjoy reading Dominic’s reviews, but also glean understanding and joy from seeing the world of food through his eyes. -- Lori Fredrich, Dining EditorLast weekend I checked out Bryant’s On The Round, N51 W34911 E. Wisconsin Ave. in Okauchee. The restaurant opened in January 2022 and offers a variety of small plate dishes that are shareable. 

The owners of the restaurant are Chef Bryant Johnson and Kimberly Stark. Before they opened their own restaurant, Bryant was the manager at Foolery’s Liquid Therapy in Oconomowoc. In addition to operating the restaurant, Bryant also does catering as well. 

Inside Bryant’s On The Round it has a very cozy and rustic atmosphere. They have seating inside or out on the beautiful patio.

They also have a very nice bar where you can have cocktails, wine, or beer and also eat your meal.

My waitress’ name was Nancy. She was very upbeat and knew a lot about the menu. She mentioned that before Bryant’s On The Round was in that building that their was also a restaurant called Spitfire and one called Penny Lane. Nancy said that some of their most popular dishes include prosciutto wrapped jalapeños, buffalo chicken meatloaf, and the 3-cut burger.

I ordered the buffalo chicken meatloaf. It was topped with buffalo sauce and bleu cheese.

They serve roasted garlic mashed potatoes on the side. The meatloaf was spicy and delicious. The mashed potatoes were out of this world; they were very creamy and buttery. 

Then I tried 7-cheese mac and cheese which is a creamy blend of seven different types of cheese topped with Ritz cracker crumbs.

It was a cheese paradise, and I just loved it. Then I tried their chicken enchilada lasagna and it had the perfect mix of seasoning and flavors. My whole meal was incredible.

For dessert I tried their key lime pie. It was amazing. The crust had the perfect crunch to it and it had a very refreshing lime taste. It was definitely worth ordering. This pie is the chef's 9-year-old daughter's recipe, and you have to try it.

I had the honor of meeting Chef Lee. He was very friendly and we talked about the menu items I tried.

If you’re near Okauchee Lake definitely check out Bryant’s On The Round. They have wonderful food and the staff there is so kind. Make sure to make reservations ahead of time to ensure you get a table.
