The Marquette University men's basketball team will honor former assistant and head coach Rick Majerus by wearing a special patch on the squad's uniforms the remainder of the 2012-13 campaign.
Majerus passed away last Saturday night at the age of 64.
The Wisconsin native was an assistant under Al McGuire and Hank Raymonds for 12 years (including 1977 national championship season) before taking over the head-coaching duties at MU.
He posted an overall record of 56-35 in three seasons and helped the program to a trio of National Invitation Tournament appearances. His 25-year head coaching career included 517 victories and 12 NCAA Tournament appearances (runner-up with Utah in 1998).
Fans in attendance at Saturday's Marquette-Wisconsin game will also recognize a moment of silence prior to the national anthem.
