Cafe Dulce, 111 E. Wisconsin Ave. – I’m lazy in the mornings, and rarely muster the energy to get up early and make myself lunch. Luckily, I’ve discovered Cafe Dulce in the Chase Bank Tower. They have a full menu of salads, sandwiches and panini for just $5.95, and their quattro formaggi panini is heaven-sent. I’m a girl who loves her formaggi, after all, and this panini combines provolone, cheddar, goat and cream cheese with tomato and/or apple slices. Plus, the staff is small and very friendly, and they even offer dining on the beautiful Riverwalk. – Colleen Jurkiewicz
This mojito recipe – If you, like me, have a bumper crop of mint in your garden (or even if you don't) this mojito recipe is incredible. My partner is always the experimental mixologist – as well as a former bartender – and his latest mojito recipe is one of his best ever. Enjoy.
The Milwaukee Mojito
2 ounces spiced rum (Great Lakes Distillery's Roaring Dan rum is recommended)
Little less than 1 ounce limeade
Ice
Mint leaves
2 brown sugar cubes
Little less than 2 ounces sparkling water
Splash of tonic
Muddle rum, mint, some ice, sugar cubes and limeade. Add sparkling water and more ice in pint-sized glass. Finish with splash of tonic. Stir briefly. Garnish with mint. – Molly Snyder
Van der Hagen Gentle Glycerin Soaps – There’s a little secret among men who use shaving soap and a shaving brush: van der Hagen, the 20-year-old American soap company makes incredibly cheap, high-quality and easily accessible shaving soap. You can find it practically anywhere. The only downside for me – until now – is that I haven’t been crazy about the scent of this sensitive-skin shaving soap. Now, the company has launched four new glycerin body soap bars, and not surprisingly, they’re really nice. "Fruity" smells like a delicious bunch of tropical fruit, while "Floral" is a little strong for the women I offered our samples to. "Fresh" is an herbal scent, just on the masculine side of unisex. But my favorite is actually "Free," which is fragrance and color-free, but has just the slightest oatmeal scent. Hypo-allergenic and non-comedogenic, it lathers well and rinses clean. And yes, the kettle process soap is cheap at $2.99 a bar, too. I’m sold. – Andy Tarnoff
Kohl's Cares Curious George books and merchandise – I've said it here before and I'll say it again: the Kohl's Cares series of $5 books is a win-win. The program offers up nice hardcover editions of awesome kids books for just $5 and the proceeds benefit children's health and education causes around the country. The latest books are five featuring Curious George – "First Day of School," "Dinosaur Discovery," "... Visits the Zoo," "...and the Puppies" and "... Goes Camping" – are matched with appropriate plush toys that are also $5 each. This time, there is also a set of note cards for 5 bucks and a Curious George backpack, just in time for back to school shopping. – Bobby Tanzilo
