Pelican i1015 iPhone Case – There are iPhone cases, then there are iPhone cases. While I had one once that could allegedly survive a drop from a plane, this case is different: crush-proof, dust-proof and water resistant (I'd say waterproof, but that's not in the product's claims) this case offers serious protection for any type of smart phone, really. Earphones plug into a protective right-angle jack, and a carabiner clip keeps the case attached to your belt loop or bag. Only one downside: you can't use your phone's touchscreen or answer calls when it's inside this vault. You can just look at it, and perhaps listen to music if you hit "play" before you sealed everything up. Still, campers, hikers and boaters should have a protective case this good. Krups Waffle Chef – This four-slice waffle maker lists at $84 but you can get it much more cheaply – almost half that price – at various online vendors. And it's worth every penny for true waffle aficionados. Unlike some waffle irons, the Krups heats evenly and quickly. You can get four thick, crisp on the outside, airy on the inside waffles made in four minutes. The non-stick surface means they slip out easily, too, and makes for quick cleanup (though be careful not to overload with batter or you'll create an overflow mess, as is the case with any wafflemaker). After you've "seasoned" it with oil or butter, you can make a few more batches without added fat, too. We've been on the prowl for a good waffle maker for a while and this one has us livin' large at breakfast. – Bobby Tanzilo

Festival lemonade – They're there every year, at practically every fair and festival: the green-and-yellow lemonade stands. I  usually pass them by without a second thought, but on the recommendation of my coworker Molly Snyder, I decided to give them a shot last weekend at Bastille Days. I can't say how much sugar is in this shaken drink, but I can say that it was a sweet, tasty alternative to traditional soda/beer/wine options. And, at $3.50, it rang in on par, or cheaper, than other drink choices. The cup's disproportionate ice-to-lemonade ratio is probably its only downside, but it's nice to have a "festival drink" to wash down all the festival food. – Renee Lorenz

Pure Glass Bottle – As the name implies, Pure Glass Bottle, available in a couple styles, is, well, a pure glass bottle. These reusable bottles aren't especially stylish, but they're great refillables that you can take to the park, in the car, to a picnic. They're coated with some sort of slip-resistant transparent space age polymer – called SafeShell technology – that works a little like safety glass but even better. Throw these bottles down to the ground in a fit of pique and the glass will shatter, certainly, but the coating will contain it all. So no dangerous shards, no mess. And because they're glass, you don't have to wonder if there's any BPA. They're also recyclable, but clearly, would-be rioters, they wouldn't work very well for Molotov cocktails. – Bobby Tanzilo
