Get one: Jabari Parker bobblehead
Everyone needs a new bobblehead. And, what better way to support the out for the season, yet supposed to be NBA rookie of the year, the Bucks own Jabari Parker? The first 10,000 fans at Saturday night's Bucks / Hawks game get one. So, buy your tickets now and show up early.  The Hawks are really good this year too, so it should be a solid match up (rematch) for the young Bucks who also play ATL Friday night in Atlanta. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Saturday! –Jeff Sherman

Read it: "Gotham Unbound: The Ecological History of Greater New York," by Ted Steinberg (Simon & Schuster)
Looking around Manhattan it's hard to imagine there was once wilderness all around. The landscape has been so erased and re-written that we forget where the streams ran, where rainwater collected, where stands of pines offered protection from wind. Steinberg traces the ecological development of the New York City area and its estuary across the centuries and it's an eye-opening journey. Frankly, after so much destruction wrought over so many decades, it's hard to believe things aren't worse than they are. But the story offers lessons for other cities, too, about how to grow and thrive while working to preserve and protect nature. Though it's hefty and a serious topic, Steinberg's book is readable and gripping. –Bobby Tanzilo

Cook with it: Emeril cast iron skillet
A well-seasoned cast-iron skillet is an essential for anybody that wants to cook beyond the basic level. This one is budget friendly – and is perfect for everything for searing your steak to cooking your egg-bake in. Plus, this 10 inch skillet is the perfect size. You won't regret adding this to your kitchen cupboard. Bon appetit. –Carolynn Buser

Charge with it: Hue Stik portable battery
I like the look and size of this backup powerpack for my iPhone. It's small(ish), black and lightweight so it doesn't bulk up or weigh down my purse. It also doubles as a flashlight, which is cool. Best of all, according to the reviews, it is dependable and long-lasting which is a mind soother for those of us who use our phones for work and family all the time and are constantly and nervously watching the battery on our phone screen drain down to a single red line. –Molly Snyder
