Working out of your home or on the go can be a blessing -- or a curse. Today we bring you some must-haves to make your home or mobile office the best it can be.
Use it: Ello glass water bottle
Hydration. It's something I'm trying to get better at keeping up with, both when I'm in the office and working "abroad." And it sounds so basic, but I've found it's always helpful to have a water bottle on hand. I really despise drinking out of plastic, and find that stainless steel, while durable, isn't really my favorite medium either. But, this Ello glass water bottle is just about perfect. It's light enough to tote with me when I'm working away from the office, and durable enough to hold up to jostling around in my bag. Best of all, it makes this amazingly clear (almost musical) "popping" sound when you press the button to open it up. Makes me smile every time. – Lori Fredrich
Clean up with them: Purell Instant hand sanitizer and Renuzit adjustables
I'm big on atmospherics and I like to create a pleasant place. One of the things I pay attention to when I've got my laptop and I'm working out of the office is germs. No matter how hard the staff tries or how rigorously you rub a table with a napkin, germs lurk. So small bottles of hand sanitizer are a key element of any mobile office. The second thing that's important is to have a scent in your back pocket. If you are in a coffee shop or bakery, you'll never need it. But if you find yourself in a room on a hot summer day without air conditioning, scent is important. This one is pleasant and lasts a long time. – Dave Begel
Protect with it: Kuzy clear Macbook case
You need a case for your computer. But, you don’t want bulk or something that looks like crap. For me, I love my Kuzy® High Quality Crystal Series Hard Case. It protects and makes carrying easy too. Get one. You need it. – Jeff Sherman
Use them: Sugar Skull coasters
When I work at home, I almost always have a cup of coffee or tea next to me. We have a beautiful, antique, wood "partners' desk" so I am always hunting around for coasters so I don't leave a ring on it. Often I use old CDs that are either scratched or were converted to digital files, but I love these sugar skull coasters which would fit in well with the art that's already in my home as well as the culture of my neighborhood. – Molly Snyder
Humidify with it: Vornado
It doesn't get much worse than working in a dry space with no humidity, especially in the winter. One of my solutions, along with plants for natural addition of moisture, is the Vornado. This compact humidifier is perfect because it has a built-in humidistat that automatically and precisely regulates humidity output or can be set to run continuously. Plus, it is a evaporative humidifier not a mist one -- so no water leaking out onto my floors. The unit sleek and quiet and can be used in a fan mode only too. – Carolynn Buser
