Fish fry fundraiser? For sure.

OnMilwaukee and FM 102/1 host first fish fry eating contest and fundraiser

Season's eatings! The weather may be getting colder, but Dining Month on OnMilwaukee is just cooking up, dishing out your winning picks in this year's Best of Dining poll. Dining Month is brought to you by Fein Brothers, your premier food service equipment and supply dealer in Wisconsin since 1929. Congratulations to all of the winners, and happy eating for all those who voted! See all the winners for the month so far here.

Milwaukee has been the home of many eating contests, from cream puffs to jalapeños, but OnMilwaukee and FM 102/1 will host the city's first fish fry eating contest and fundraiser.

The glorious event takes place on Friday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. at O'Lydia's, 338 S. 1st St., from 5 to 10 p.m.

Folks are invited to come to O'Lydia's for a fish fry and proceeds of every plate served will go toward Donate Life Wisconsin. O'Lydia's owner Linda Sackett received a kidney from her son this past summer. Donate Life Wisconsin will be on site to sign up people for the donor list. (The sticker on your license no longer counts!)

Competitive eaters include myself, Jon Adler from FM 102/1, Fred Gillich from "Too Much Rock For One Hand," bartender extraordinaire Diane Dowland and Nick Berg, the creator of the Milwaukee toast "414 let's have one more."

Judge Derek Mosley and Milwaukee Blacksmith Kent Knapp will serve as contest judges and Michelle Rutkowski from FM 102/1 will emcee the event.

"The fish fry itself is for a great cause. The fish fry eating contest will be messy and gross and ridiculous and oh my God, I can't wait," says Rutkowski, a hardcore vegetarian.
