In honor of the first day of spring we give you a few things we really want to make your first steps of this season the best ever.
Kick in them: Adidas Superstar Vulc ADV
Spring means new shoes. I like my old Sambas, but it’s time to upgrade. The inserts on these are great, making them super comfortable. Great for kicking around this spring in Milwaukee! – Jeff Sherman
Use it: Blunt ZS Metro Umbrella
They say April showers bring May flowers. And that's cool. But, they also bring... well, wetness... and downpours that happen at the most inopportune times. I've been in need of a truly good umbrella for some time now -- and I think I've finally found one that I'd put my money behind. Sure, the Blunt XS Metro Umbrella is a bit pricier than your typical (shitty) fold-up umbrella. But, it's a snappy looking bumbershoot with a snazzy almost futuristic silhouette. Better yet, the taut 37-inch canopy and telescopic polycarbonite ribs are rumored to survive windy gusts of up to 55 mph. It also folds down and fits into a handy transportable umbrella compact that I believe will fit in my purse. And, for the price of just four flimsy throwaways, that sounds like a pretty good deal. Now, the big question: orange or aqua? – Lori Fredrich
Brighten up in it: Nail Bar Milwaukee
Spring calls for brighter colors and the shedding of all those winter layers. That includes your feet! My go-to option for a pedi is Nail Bar Milwaukee situated right across the street from Pizza Man on Downer Ave. It is not a cheap service, but you definitely get the quality that you pay for. It's trendy yet cozy and understated. The pedicure bench was so comfortable and everything felt so luxurious. Settle in with your tea and let them do the work making your toes ready for the warmer weather. Go for the spa pedi -- you won't regret it -- and stop over for a glass of wine at Pizza Man after for an extra special afternoon. – Carolynn Buser
Wear them: Tieks ballet flats
I'm the type of girl that buys one pair of shoes or boots and then wears them pretty much every day until they fall apart. That said, I can almost justify the $175 price of these black ballet slippers because they look so comfy and versatile I know I would, literally, wear them every day in spring, summer and in to fall. Anyone reading this with a large budget set aside for my May birthday present? Look no further! – Molly Snyder
