A taste for National Wine Day

Today is National Wine Day - though I admit I celebrate this event considerably more than once a year - and it seems like the perfect time to share some of the wines I've been tasting lately.


Bacchus dinner plays nice with bubbly

At the conclusion of Tuesday night's dinner at Bacchus featuring Veuve Clicquot Champagnes and attended by winemaker Cyril Brun, Chef Adam Siegel said his challenge was to create food that played well with Champagne. While typically he might have to be careful to not overshadow the wines, in this case, he said, the wines were so strong he more had to meet their challenge.


White wine in winter?

At first thought, red wine seems to pair better with wool sweaters and fireplaces and flannel sheets. However, white wine can be just as satisfying during the winter, if the right kind is chosen.
